News - Calls tracked to student, woman's killers caught
A second year college student and his friend who tried to molest a 27-year-old woman in Ennore on Friday afternoon and then killed her were arrested on Saturday night after the police tracked the calls made by them.
P Subhani had been found dead with her throat slit at her house in Thazankuppam by her husband Pannerselvam, president of the South Indian Fishermen?s Association, and a complaint was lodged with the police.
Suburban commissioner S R Jangid immediately ordered the formation of a special team. The team headed by Madhavaram deputy commissioner Annie Vijaya began investigations and soon nabbed Parthiban (25) of Thazankuppam and Narendran (21).
Interrogation revealed that Parthiban and Subhani were neighbours and knew each other well. He worked in a foundry in the area while Narendran, a student, worked there on a part time basis.
According to the police, Narendran confided in Parthiban that he was attracted to Subhani. The two then visited her house around 2.30 pm with some old wedding invitation cards. When Subhani asked who he was, Narendran said he lived nearby and wanted to invite her family for his wedding. When she said her husband was not at home, he took Paneerselvam?s phone number and called him from his mobile.
