West Mambalam, (Tamil: மேற்கு மாம்பலம்) also known as Old Mambalam, (Tamil:பழைய மாம்பலம்)is a primarily residential area and one of the oldest localities in Chennai, India. It is situated in the middle of the city, to the west of T. Nagar.
West Mambalam is well connected to other parts of the city by both bus and train. The nearest bus terminus is located in T. Nagar and the nearest railway station is in Mambalam.
Although primarily a residential locality, West Mambalam has a number of restaurants, banks and other retail outlets. Also in this locality are two historic Hindu temples: the Kothandaramaswami Temple dedicated to Lord Rama and the Kasi Viswanathar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Reflections of the past of spiritual minded bhakthas of West Mambalam, prompted the founding of an organization in the promotion of such core values with the sole aim of celebrating Sri Rama Navami festival, Lord Rama being embodiment of culture and dharmic tradition. Thus, the organization was founded in March 1954 after their efforts were blessed by no less an Ascetic than Poojya Sri Paramacharyal, the sage of Kanchi, later titled it as ?Sri Ram Samaj? and registered the same in February 1958, and the land sanctified by Sri Mahaswamigal of Kanchi Mutt in December 1957 with His Blessings.
Pandits and other exponents of our great heritage are regularly invited to participate and deliver elaborate exposition on Vedas, Ithihas and budding, constitute a regular feature.
The spotlight among various events since inception has been the extensive celebration of Sri Rama Navami Mahotsavam in a manner, fitting and delightful. Accordingly, as ever before, the series include a programme of Chathue Veda Parayanam, Srimad Valmiki Ramayana pravachanam, Music Concerts, Bhajans and Annadhanam.
Coming to annual events, programmes such as Radha Kalyanam and a series of Puranas under the joint auspices of the Samaj and Endowment Donors are being conducted regularly. The Endowments include financial assistance to the poor for marriage of their wards.
Focusing yet another seasonal highlight Sri Sarada Navarathri brim with the splendour of Kolu in elegance of arrangement, illustration of tradition and decoration of lights?.
Sri Adhikesava Perumal Koil is situated at Govindan Street in west mambalam. Adhikesava Perumal Temple is above thousand years old popular temple and also sri Ramanujar worshipped this divine place. The Adhikesava perumal temple is first and oldest temple in chennai perumal temples. So that this temple is called Sri Adhi Chenna Kesava permal koil.

Worshipping any deity on Pournami ( full moon ) is auspicious but if one worships Lord Sathyanarayana who is identified with Pournami on that day , it is believed that the Lord will bless us with the bountiful health and wealth.
Lord Sathyanaraya who is one of the divine forms of Mahavishnu is consecrated in a separate temple in West Mambalam in Chennai. The temple is the only one of its kind in Tamil Nadu.
Situated in the Srinivasa Street near Ayodhya Mandapam. West Mambalam, the main deity of the temple is Sri Mahalakshmi Sametha Sri Sathya Narayana Perumal.
The Other deities present in this temple are: Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, Thaayaar, Lakshmi Narsimhar,Anjaneyar, Sudharsan Azhwar, Ramar, Lakshmanar and seetha.
This Temple is very famous and is often referred to as "Maabila Kshetram". Every pournami, Sathya Narayana Poojai is being performed. Whenever the Jeeyar Swamigal or Srimad Andvan Swamigal comes to mambalam, they pay a visit to this Kshetram.
The Temple is located at the end of the madley road bridge on the right side while going from T.Nagar bus stand. This is a 400 years old beautiful temple and has been renovated recently. Sankara Mutt is present next to the Kasi Viswanathar temple.
Located to left of the Madley Road subway while going from T.Nagar bus stand,this 150 years old temple has the main deity as pattabiramar with seetha devi at his left lap in pattibhisheka kolam. Kothandaramar is also installed later just behind the pattibesheha Ramar. So, just in one shrine, you can worship both pattibesheha Ramar and the Kothanda Ramar. Also Ranganathar,Thayar Ranganayaki, Yoga Narasimhar, Sanjeeva Paravatha Anjaneyar are having separate shrines. Anjaneyar is having Sanjeeva parvatha hill in his right and his facing north (Gubera Corner) is considered very special.
